Customer Reviews S. Z. Simonton Said: Great stove! ( Aug. 6th 2009 )Just got a new one of these now that I'm car camping with 4 kids and want to very enthusiastically add to the chorus of positive reviews. I chose the dual fuel so that we wouldn't create waste/need to deal with non-reusable propane fuel canisters. I also like having the option of using unleaded gas. I have two MSR fuel bottles that I store fuel in. Very easy to light---and keep lit--in breezy conditions. Great stove for base camping when you need to feed a hungry crowd.JOHN KNOWLES Said: Awesome compact stove! ( Jul. 3rd 2009 )I purchased this stove because my grandmother has a Coleman stove that she's been using for 35 years. I remember when I was much younger, waking up on camping trips to hear the sounds of cooking oatmeal, eggs, and sausage on that stove, not to mention hot chocolate. I must have one myself now that I am older and do my own camping more often than the family camping. She's 79 and still organizes a family camping trip every other summer. Anyways, this stove is very much like the old-school units, escept I think the steel is a little thinner. I think it is sturdy enough though. The Dual Fuel designation allows me to use less expensive gasoline instead of Coleman fuel. My experience with gasoline on this stove is the same as using Coleman fuel. It is easy to light, and as long as I follow the lighting instructions word for word, I don't have any issues with flooding burners or high yellow flames. I like how the windscreen really works, and how the tank stores inside and then the windscreen folds down and closes like a lid, making the stove look like a green metal briefcase. This is a must-have for anyone who does car camping or state-park style modern camping. People who are cooking for a larger group than one family may want to consider the Coleman 2 Burner Dual Fuel Powerhouse Liquid Fuel Stove, which is a little bigger and has more powerful burners, or the Coleman 428-700 3 Burner Dual Fuel Deluxe Liquid Fuel Stove. If you are thinking about a propane stove, think again. Liquid fuel is superior in every respect. It is less expensive, better for the environment (no little green bottles to throw out), has better flame control, and one tank of liquid fuel will far outlast a little bottle of propane. I can't recommend this unit highly enough! See the two photos of the stove in use on my deck in the product gallery.A. Perry Said: Must have ( Feb. 3rd 2009 )This is a great product. We used it everyday, several times a day for 5 days for a family of four (Two men, two women (translated: 2 big eaters, 2 little eaters). It is constructed well and we think it will last a long time. It stores nicely. Simple to use. Easy to clean. Flame even and hot. Boils water fast (important for coffe in AM!). Flame never blew out. Can use one or both burners. Fuel tank keeps pressure for long time...easily enough to cook the meal; if it does go low, easy to pump pressure right up in a few quick strokes. Spacious enough for a 12quart pot and a frying pan if you open wings. Thoroughly recommend.J. Beck Said: 35 + years and still going strong! ( Dec. 6th 2008 )My 2 burner Coleman Dual Fuel stove is one that my father bought when I was a kid to take camping in our pop up. I remember many meals prepared on it back then. I stopped camping for about 25 years, and just recently decided to start camping again with my family. I knew the Coleman would have to come with us. So, I got my Dad's old Coleman stove and put a little Coleman fuel in it, pumped it up and it still runs like a champ. This is one piece of camping equipment that is nearly indestructible if you take any care of it at all. As stated by others, not backpacking equipment, but perfect for rv'ing and car camping. This is one of the few products made by any company that lives up to its reputation and actually exceeds it by a fair margin. You really can't go wrong with this little stove. Easy to use, easy to transport and it will outlast you most likely. It's something that can be handed down to your kids (or even grandkids) someday.Matthew Said: Great Stove ( Sep. 19th 2008 )Great stove for car camping or just to have around the house. Purchased because it will burn unleaded gasoline or standard camp fuel (basically gasoline as well), not to mention not having to deal with those obnoxious propane bottles. Could be constructed a little more bullet-proof, but it still seems like it will last quite a while. Lights quickly and burns cleanly on camp fuel (haven't needed to use gasoline yet). Would definitely buy again.« Back |
